Silvershield Trail

This was another hike we were able to do right out of our backdoor. The Silvershield trail actually has two components, linking to the Oak Creek Trail we hiked two days earlier and the Twin Peaks Trail, which climbs to the aptly named peaks towering over the western side of Ouray. There is an upper and lower route--we took the lower route in a counterclockwise direction, approximately a 6.3 mile loop starting at the hotel. We took our time, exploring old mining ruins and adits. "Eagle eye" Kathy spotted deer along the route.
